Welcome Home

The Lost Tamarack Lodge is an outdoor event space nestled along the Lost Tamarack Pathway on Weber Lake in Northern Michigan. For over a decade, it has been a gathering place where music, art, culture, and nature create soul-refreshment for all. These guidelines ensure our visual identity stays as vibrant and grounded as the community that calls this place home.

Primary Logo

The primary logo features the iconic tamarack tree silhouette set against a sunset gradient circle, paired with the wordmark in a classic serif. Use the full lockup whenever space allows.

Logo Marks

When the full lockup doesn't fit, use one of these standalone marks. The sunset mark is preferred for color contexts; the tree mark is for single-color or engraving applications.

Clear Space

Maintain a minimum clear space equal to the height of the "T" in "TAMARACK" on all sides of the logo. This ensures the logo retains its visual impact and isn't crowded by surrounding elements.

Our Colors

Our palette is drawn from the Northern Michigan landscape — sunsets over Weber Lake, dark forest canopies, and the warm glow of gathering around a fire. Black and orange anchor the brand; the extended palette adds depth for events and merchandise.

How We Sound

Our voice reflects who we are: a warm community of music lovers, nature enthusiasts, and good people gathering under the pines. Every piece of communication should feel like a friend inviting you to the fire.

Warm & Welcoming

"Welcome Home." We speak like a host greeting guests, not a brand selling tickets. Inclusive, open, and friendly.

Nature-Rooted

Our language draws from the land — trails, lakes, sunsets, bonfires. We ground every message in the natural world that surrounds us.

Casual & Genuine

We skip the corporate speak. Authentic, down-to-earth, and occasionally playful. "Groove with us" over "Purchase your experience."

Community-Driven

We emphasize togetherness, family, and shared experience. It's never "our event" — it's always something we build together.

Do

  • Use "Welcome Home" as a greeting
  • Refer to attendees as friends, family, community
  • Keep copy short, warm, and conversational
  • Reference the natural setting organically
  • Use "soul-refreshment" as a brand phrase

Don't

  • Use corporate or overly formal language
  • Refer to people as "customers" or "consumers"
  • Use aggressive sales language or urgency tactics
  • Over-explain — let the vibe speak for itself
  • Stray into heavy political or divisive messaging

Visual World

Our photography captures the spirit of the Lodge — golden hour light through the pines, community gathered around music, and the untamed beauty of Northern Michigan. Every image should feel like a memory worth keeping.

Imagery That Fits

  • Golden hour and warm natural lighting
  • Candid community moments over posed shots
  • Aerial drone shots of the property and trails
  • Live music in natural settings (the barn, fields)
  • Close-ups of nature — wildflowers, lake reflections, campfires
  • Dark/moody night shots with warm accents (stage lights, fire)

Imagery to Avoid

  • Overly polished or stock-feeling photos
  • Cold, blue-toned or fluorescent lighting
  • Urban or indoor-centric imagery
  • Heavily filtered or over-saturated edits
  • Empty or lifeless landscapes without human connection

It's Not SOL Fest

This is the single most important rule in our brand. The festival has a name — use it correctly in all materials, social posts, press, and conversation.

SOL of the Lost Tamarack

Full name. Use in formal materials, press, posters, and first reference.

The SOL

Casual shorthand. Great for social media, conversation, and repeat references.

SOL 2026

Year-specific. Use when referring to a particular year's event.

Event Identities

Our recurring events have their own visual personalities while remaining connected to the parent brand. Each event can introduce unique colors and typography but must always include the LTL mark or lockup.

Flagship — Summer

SOL of the Lost Tamarack

Our annual summer music festival, now in its 13th year. Uses bold red-to-magenta gradients, oversized display type, and high-energy imagery. Each year gets a unique poster treatment while maintaining the sunset gradient DNA.

Recurring — October

Grateful Deadwood

An autumn gathering celebrating jam-band culture. Darker, earthier tones with rich reds and browns. Leans into vintage psychedelic poster aesthetics while staying grounded in the LTL brand family.

Seasonal Events

Other Gatherings

Events like Barnival, Barn Yoga, Tamarack Electric, and Space Goat each bring their own energy. They may introduce event-specific colors but should always tie back to the core brand through the LTL mark and typography system.
